What the Coachell are you wearing?

For those of you unfamiliar with Coachella, it’s a two-weekend-long music and arts festival that takes place in Indio, California. I’m not sure why they take the weekdays off, since judging by the amount of hand tattoos there, I’m guessing most of the attendees don’t have jobs.

But anyway. The festival is known for attracting a mix of world-famous bands (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wu-Tang Clan) and little-known musicians (like 80% of the bands there).

But, if you google “Coachella,” you’ll find that it’s maybe most famous for attracting a bunch of people wearing insane outfits. The typical attendee’s outfit is a cross between Free People, Mary-Kate Olsen-bag-lady, and things you’d find in a child’s dress-up box.

For your Tuesday morning enjoyment, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Coachella outfits from the first weekend of the event:

Oh, look, our first hand tattoo sighting:

Even the trashcans are hipsters:

OK, literally can’t tell if this performer is a man or a woman:

This girl looks kind of normal, right? Oh, wait. Is that a tattoo of Einstein’s face on her thigh? Yes, that’s a tattoo of Einstein’s face on her thigh:

You sure are, buddy.

Parents of adorable little boys: don’t let your child grow up to be this guy.

This makes me feel weird.

This guy has been reading a little too much Rookie.

Coachella 2013 - Day 1

What’s a music festival without a guy dressed in a rainbow wedding dress from the 70s?

Even with all that body paint, the worst thing about this outfit is the fanny pack.

All sarcasm aside, I actually love this woman’s outfit. There just aren’t enough occasions in life to wear a 3-piece, pleated, metallic rainbow outfit.

This photo was taken in 2013. I swear.

Of course Kristen Stewart isn’t having any fun.

Another look I unironically love.

“Hmm… I think my outfit is a little too normal. I should draw a design on my stomach with magic markers.”

Guys, there are so many more photos I could’ve shared. This is just a small sampling of the weirdness that is Coachella.

If you need a little pick-me-up to get you through the day, just remember, if this girl can make it in this crazy world, so can you:
